Every job is different and we will require your plans to cost accurately. There are additional costs to the basic building certification cost to be included in your budget. Our quote will supply the anticipated fees.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need council approval for a small garden shed.

It depends on where in Queensland you live. If you live in a cyclonic area any exterior construction will require approval. If you live in other parts of Queensland then the Building Regulation 2006 and the Queensland Development Code states that a shed is self assessable provided it is no more than 10 square metres in area, is no more than 2.4 metres in height (with an average mean height of no more than 2.1 metres) is no longer than five metres to any side.

Can I build my own shed?

You won’t need a permit to do building work on your own land if it has a value of under $11,000. If the value is $11,000 or more (including GST), you will need: an owner-builder permit.

How close to the boundary can I put my shed?

The general rule is 1.5m from side and rear boundaries however there can be other planning regulations impacting your location. You should check with your local council before you start building works. Simply send us your plans and we can advise of costs and requirements.
