A Disability Access Consultant is qualified to advise on your legal obligations with regard to Disability Access and help ensure your workplace complies with the Disability Discrimination Act.
You do have a legal obligation to meet the standards set out in the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). The act covers services, education, employment, public space and homes. Whilst it is possible to attempt to nagivate the legislation yourself and Access Consultant is qualified, trained and undertakes life long learning to interpret the legislation in relation to your construction methods.
There are minimum standards with regard to access on all building types including Class 1a buildings (houses) and Class 2 buildings (sole occupancy) as well as all public buildings. The standards also applies to upgrades to existing buildings.
