When do I need Town Planning?

In the majority of cases, any structure on your property requires building approval to comply with local city council, state and federal building laws. In many cases a development application will be required before the building approval can be given. This process can sometimes be a complex one.

Buildable’s team of town planning professionals will assess your development against the planning requirements. If required, they will prepare and lodge an application to Council to obtain approval  for you which will facilitate a faster and more cost-effective process for your project.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A town planner slices through the local and state regulations to help get your build ideas from planning to construction. They will look at the various layers of regulation and provide advice on how to deliver your development to meet the various guidelines.

They are often confused but are very different. A town planning permit (usually called a Development Permit) provides the approval to build on the land that you have. You may not always need a Town Planning Development Permit to build but this is the first part of the process.  A building permit provides the approval to build and you will always need a building permit (unless self assessible work).

This depends on your development and what type of applications are required. If you send preliminary plans we can provide a cost.
